Electrical Service Manager

Position Summary: 


Direct and coordinate a variety of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks performed by licensed Electricians, schedule all work assignments and grow business with existing and perspective clients through sales



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Attend meetings, seminars, training workshops and other work related issues, as required, which may involve working outside normal hours
  • Write, receive, and review all work orders
  • Plan, supervise, and monitor work of technicians
  • Implement repairs or revisions including design changes
  • Insure installation and repairs are performed in accordance with all federal, state, and local codes
  • Provide customers with price estimates for cost of repairs, replacement, or installation
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of all Technicians
  • Train Technicians in procedures and usage of equipment
  • Ensure appropriate employee safety training and compliance is completed routinely
  • Respond to service calls when needed
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Oversee client inquires, warranty claims as necessary
  • Maintain supply inventory by checking electrical material stock to determine inventory levels; anticipate needed supplies; place and expedite orders for electrical material; review and approve invoices
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with standard procedures and electrical assignments
  • Analyze and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Identify staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained
  • Prevent wastage and misuse of equipment, materials and tools. Supervise work crews to best utilize manpower and materials
  • Study blueprints and schematics in order to plan the material and labor needed to accomplish tasks
  • Conduct site surveys, audits, and inspections
  • Schedule day to day service calls
  • Build relationship with vendors
  • Train staff on generator sales



Additional Responsibilities:


  • All other duties as assigned



Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Hiring, training, and developing Technicians



Qualifications / Experience Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Trade Schooling required
  • At least 5 to 10yrs of related experience
  • Proficient with standard computers, Microsoft applications, and Quickbooks
  • Must be able to drive to local job sites


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Extensive knowledge of the standard practices, tools and terminology of the electrical trade
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Proven ability to efficiently multi-task and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively independently and instruct others
  • Ability to make repairs to complicated electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment
  • Able to plan and supervise the work of subordinates
  • Working knowledge of safety hazards and safety precautions
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Able to maintain and protect confidential information
  • Ability to perform manual work over extended periods of time
  • Ability to maintain composure under difficult circumstances
  • Strong written and communication skills with the ability to speak effectively with coworkers and clients
  • Ability to use qualitative analytical skills to solve difficult problems
  • Able to prioritize and coordinate projects and workload
  • Strong sense of customer service
  • Seeks to understand customer needs and expectations; understands the customer’s position, develops and implements solutions to meet the customer needs
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Good computer skills, including principles of project planning and cost tracking


Physical Requirements:


  • Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 75 pounds
  • Significant standing and/or walking for long periods of time, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolds, and working at heights above 30 feet
  • Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools
